Republic day Speech
My Fellow Indians, Friends, Students:
I stand before you today on the 75th anniversary of our Republic, a milestone etched in the annals of history, not just of India, but of the world. On this day, in 1950, we, a fledgling nation, still bruised by the scars of colonialism, rose from the ashes and declared to the world, "We, the people of India, have given to ourselves this Constitution."
It was a declaration not just of freedom, but of ambition. An ambition to forge a new kind of nation, one where democracy would not be a borrowed robe, but the very fabric of our being. Where diversity wouldn't be a fault line, but the vibrant mosaic that defines us. Where equality wouldn't be a slogan, but the lived reality of every citizen.
But as teacher ,the eloquent chronicler of our times, reminds us, history is not a tapestry woven in silk and gold. It is a roughspun cloth, stitched together with threads of triumph and tragedy, progress and setbacks.
We, young India, must not be lulled into a false sense of achievement. The promises of our Republic remain unfulfilled for many. Millions still struggle against poverty, illiteracy, and the shackles of social injustice. Our democracy, though robust, faces the constant threats of division and populism. And the wounds of our complex, often tumultuous past, continue to fester.
To truly celebrate this Republic Day, then, is not to simply revel in past glories. It is to acknowledge our shortcomings, to confront our challenges with open eyes and resolute hearts. It is to ask ourselves, not just how far we have come, but how much further we must go.
In this quest, dear students, you, the inheritors of this Republic, hold the key. You are the generation born under the sun of freedom, unburdened by the baggage of the past. You are the engineers of our future, the architects of a new India.
But to build this new India, you must first understand the India of today. Immerse yourselves in its history, not just the sanitized version, but the raw, unvarnished truth. Learn from the mistakes of the past, celebrate the triumphs, and understand the struggles that have shaped us.
Then, equip yourselves with the tools of progress. Education is your weapon, not just in the narrow sense of textbooks and exams, but in its broadest form. Cultivate critical thinking, question everything, challenge every assumption. Embrace knowledge in all its forms, from science and technology to art and literature, for within lies the power to transform.
But knowledge alone is not enough. You must also nurture the values that are the bedrock of our Republic. Tolerance, not just for those who agree with you, but for those who hold different beliefs, different faiths, different dreams. Compassion, for the less fortunate, the marginalized, the forgotten. A fierce, unwavering commitment to justice, for without it, our democracy is but a hollow shell.
And finally, remember, freedom is not a gift, it is a responsibility. It is the responsibility to speak up against injustice, to hold your leaders accountable, to participate in the messy, often frustrating, but ultimately vital process of democracy.
The India of your dreams, the India of the 21st century, will not be built by apathy or cynicism. It will be built by the sweat of your brow, the fire in your heart, and the unwavering belief that, together, we can create a nation truly worthy of its promise.
So, my dear students, on this 75th Republic Day, let us not just celebrate the past, but pledge to shape the future. Let us be the generation that makes India a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of democracy, and a shining example for the world.
This is the India I dream of, this is the India you must fight for. And as you embark on this journey, remember, you are not alone. We, the people of India, stand with you, united in our purpose, driven by the same unwavering hope.
May this Republic Day be a springboard, not just for celebration, but for action. May it be the day we, as a nation, recommit ourselves to the ideals that birthed our Republic, and together, build an India that is truly great.
Jai Hind!
